Capturing Unforgettable Moments

9/334

Last year, I had the opportunity to take photos a few times for Miles’ games, and I truly enjoyed the experience. But as this year came around, I didn’t consider it something I wanted to pursue further. I even turned down the idea that I could be “the guy” a few times, convinced that this was Miles senior year and I just wanted to enjoy it from the stands. Yet, sometimes life has a way of nudging you in unexpected directions.

One day, I was told, not asked, that I was going to capture those moments again. It was a firm push I needed. And so, I found myself stepping up to the task. As I wandered around, camera in hand, snapping shots in the background, it hit me: I had become “that guy.” The one who freezes the essence of time, encapsulating the significance of moments for others.

In the midst of capturing laughter, competition, and camaraderie, it struck me how privileged I was. The scenes I was immortalizing weren’t just images; they were stories waiting to be unfolded. They were the building blocks of memories, the threads that Miles would weave into his narrative of years gone by.

In those candid snapshots, I realized I wasn’t merely taking photographs; I was weaving a tale. A tale of friendship, determination, and joy. A tale that Miles would someday relive, a story whispered by the images that had stood the test of time.

Life has a way of nudging us beyond our comfort zones. And sometimes, the most unexpected journeys lead to the most cherished revelations. As I looked through the lens, I wasn’t just capturing moments; I was giving Miles a treasure trove of stories to rediscover, to share, and to hold onto as the years spun their intricate web.

While I took pictures, I couldn’t shake the gratitude I felt for those who pushed me to step beyond my comfort zone. I am getting to capture and be a part of the moments in my kids life that matter the most.
