As I lay my camera down for the last time, ending my role as an unofficial football photographer, I’m swept up in a flood of emotions. This moment isn’t just the end of the football season; it feels like the final page of an exciting novel. Each press of the shutter was more than capturing a play; it was about freezing moments in time, immortalizing the incredible journey undertaken by my sons, Miles and Colin, along with their teammates.
This season held special significance, marking Miles’ final year in high school football. Through my lens, I saw more than a player on the field; I watched the young man he’s become. Each photo is a unique story, a snapshot not just of a game but of milestones and dreams taking shape.
And then there’s Colin. His season was a whirlwind of laughter and learning curves – epitomized by that memorable moment when he discovered that spiking the ball after a score isn’t always the wisest choice. Capturing his victories, his humorous missteps, and all the moments in between has been a true joy.
Sifting through over 20,000 photos, I’m reminded that these are more than mere images; they’re a testament to a season filled with dedication, joy, and a healthy dose of humor. Each picture is like a vibrant page in a scrapbook, a memory vividly preserved for the future.
From my vantage point on the sidelines, my perspective extended beyond the plays. I witnessed the raw emotions, the unguarded reactions, the highs and lows that make high school football so much more than a game. It’s a collage of emotions, captured in fleeting moments of excitement, frustration, and everything in between.
Reflecting on this season, I feel immense gratitude for being pushed into this role. The opportunity to capture these moments and the stories we’ll cherish and revisit with smiles has been a priceless experience.
As I look forward to what’s next, I’m eager for the upcoming chapters in our family’s story. Ready to turn each page, I anticipate the continued journey of growth, laughter, and shared memories.
