Why is it that the dyslexic king of typos always finds other people’s typos? For me, it’s simple: because dyslexia is my superpower. Sure, dyslexia comes with its challenges – I’ve always had difficulty reading and writing, and even though I was not diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school like most I have learned to use it as a strength today. Dyslexia also gives me incredible powers of pattern recognition and memory. Once I see a typo, I can’t unsee it. It’s like a magnifying glass has been placed over the mistake, and it’s all I can focus on. This attention to detail has served me well in my career. It’s also helped me to become a master of Scrabble and crossword puzzles- two games that require both an eye for detail and a knack for memorizing patterns. So next time you see a dyslexic person hunting for typos, remember that they’re not just correcting a mistake- they’re using their superpower to make the world a little bit better.
